Description

Uber seeks PhD candidates for a summer internship to work on machine learning and optimization projects. Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to drive impactful projects.

Academic Requirement

Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program studying computer science, machine learning, data mining, artificial intelligence, constrained optimization, statistics, or a related quantitative field

Responsibilities

• Drive exciting, ambitious, previously unsolved projects from end to end
• Develop novel algorithms that use Uber data at global scale
• Collaborate closely with product managers and data scientists
• Independently own and drive projects forward
• Make Uber better for customers

Requirements

• At least one semester/quarter of education left following the internship
• Knowledge of technical foundations of statistics, machine learning, optimization, systems
• Experience in object-oriented languages like C++, Java, Python, or Go
• Effective communication with technical and business partners
• Ability to convert business problems into technical problems
• Research mentality with a bias towards action
